RF and hardware engineering, scoped to what you need
A complete design, a review before you commit to fab, or help with one hard problem. Every engagement starts with a free call and a written, fixed quote.
RF front-end & PCB design
Complete RF and mixed-signal hardware: architecture and cascade analysis, component selection with availability checks, schematic capture, stackup and impedance, and controlled-impedance layout, with the RF-critical structures verified in EM simulation before anything is ordered.
- Typical duration
- 3–8 weeks, depending on complexity
- A good fit for
- New RF products, respins of boards that miss spec, and first RF boards for teams without an RF engineer.
You receive
- Architecture and cascade analysis (gain, NF, IP3, P1dB, frequency plan)
- Schematic (KiCad) with a reviewed, sourced BOM
- Stackup with field-solved trace geometry for every controlled-impedance net
- RF layout: grounding, via fencing, transitions and isolation done deliberately
- EM simulation of critical transitions and structures (openEMS)
- Fab package: Gerbers/ODB++, drill, BOM, pick-and-place, STEP, fab and assembly notes
- Design review report and a decision log you keep
RF schematic & layout review
A fixed-scope review of your schematic and layout against an RF and manufacturing checklist: return paths, grounding and stitching, transitions and launches, impedance, isolation, decoupling, power sequencing, thermal and DFM. Findings are ranked by severity with specific fixes.
- Typical duration
- About one week
- A good fit for
- Teams about to release a board to fab who want to avoid a respin.
You receive
- Written report with marked-up findings, ranked by severity
- Recommended fixes, with the reasoning behind each
- A walkthrough call to go through the findings together
App & software development
Production software built with modern tooling: native-quality iOS and Android apps (React Native / Expo), web applications and SaaS platforms, e-commerce, dashboards and companion apps for connected hardware. AI features such as vision, speech and language models are built in where they earn their place, with cost controls and evaluation against real data.
- Typical duration
- 2–10 weeks
- A good fit for
- Hardware products that need an app, internal tools that outgrew spreadsheets, and startups that need a working product fast.
You receive
- iOS and Android apps from one codebase, through TestFlight to release
- Web applications and APIs with authentication, roles and a Postgres backend
- Companion and dashboard apps for connected hardware and lab instruments
- AI features (vision, voice, LLM) with evaluation scripts and spend limits
- Source code, tests, deployment and handoff documentation
RF systems, link budgets & trade studies
Requirements flow-down, link budgets, receiver and transmitter cascades, frequency planning and spur analysis, and architecture trade studies. Built from experience leading RF architecture on space and defense programs.
- Typical duration
- 1–4 weeks
- A good fit for
- Early-stage programs, proposals and architecture decisions that need an expert opinion.
You receive
- Link budget and cascade models you can rerun
- Trade study memo with options, analysis and a recommendation
- Derived component and subsystem specifications
Test automation & bench software
Instrument control over SCPI, characterization software for amplifiers and RF assemblies, data-processing and review tools, and reports traceable to the hardware that produced them. Each tool is delivered with its source and tests.
- Typical duration
- 2–6 weeks
- A good fit for
- Labs running repetitive RF measurements by hand, or teams reviewing test data in spreadsheets.
You receive
- A working application with a browser UI, plus a simulated bench for testing without hardware
- Source code, setup instructions and a test suite
- Report formats matched to your review process
Embedded systems & firmware
Embedded hardware and firmware from microcontrollers to FPGA SoCs: ESP32 and STM32 control boards, Zynq + RF-transceiver designs, USB-C power with protection, sensor interfaces, and mains-switching designs with isolation and fail-safe behavior engineered in. Firmware for control loops, AGC and RF switching, instrument interfaces and bring-up.
- Typical duration
- 3–8 weeks
- A good fit for
- Products that combine RF with control, power or sensing.
You receive
- Schematic, layout and fab package
- Firmware with a documented architecture
- Safety and failure-mode analysis where the design switches mains
Prototype bring-up & debug
Structured bring-up of prototype boards: power sequencing, RF path checks, tuning, and root-causing problems with bench measurements and simulation. When a result must be traceable to a calibration, testing is arranged at an accredited lab.
- Typical duration
- Days to weeks
- A good fit for
- First articles, boards that miss spec, and intermittent faults.
You receive
- Bring-up plan and results
- Root-cause analysis with recommended fixes
- Rework instructions or revision changes
Ways to work together
Engagement models
Pricing is always quoted. You know the cost before work starts.
Fixed-scope project
A defined deliverable at a quoted price and schedule, with review gates you approve. A deposit to start, then milestone billing at each gate. Best for new designs and respins.
Design review
A fixed-scope, fixed-fee review of your schematic and layout. The easiest way to start working together.
Ongoing support
A block of hours each month for design support, reviews and questions as they come up.
